Huon Hooke
Very deep, dark, dense red colour with a purple tint, the bouquet marked by obvious charred oak, which is reflected on the palate. It's a big, gutsy, chewy old-fashioned style of Aussie shiraz with lashings of American oak, the oaky tannins rather obvious and lingering long on the aftertaste. This is pretty oaky and I could not recommend it until it's had a few more years in a cellar.
