Very deep, dark red/purple with faint black tinges, the bouquet super-ripe and bordering on overripe, with some black olive notes and a hint of jam. The palate is all about blackberry jam and licorice. It's full-bodied and generous, a very satisfying mouth-filling red wine with length and balance. The tannins are present and add structure without being aggressive. Very good.

Deep garnet colored, the 2014 Avatar—a Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro blend—has a wonderfully earthy, meaty nose with expressive notes of dusty earth, beef drippings, kirsch, dried mulberries and Christmas cake, plus touches of garrigue and pepper. Rich, soft and with lots of layers on the medium to full-bodied palate, it has a lot of freshness to carry the earthy finish. Drink 2016 - 2022.
