Huon Hooke
Medium to deep red colour with a purple tint. The bouquet is shy and reserved, chaffy, undeveloped and youthful, with bold cherry-ripe fruit and a kiss of lightly smoky oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied, firm and highly structured with tannin firmness to burn. It's quite savoury and oak is part of that. Very good potential

Hand-picked, wild-fermented with 18 days on skins, spent the first 12 months on lees in French barriques (33% new), then 6 months off lees. The vintage was challenging, but the wine has answered. Drink to 2025.
