Ranked #4 of 16 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec from Clare Valley
93/100
4.5 Stars
Huon Hooke
Very deep red/purple colour, bold and youthful. The bouquet is rich and ripe in dark fruit and licorice aromas, the wine concentrated and powerful, intense and penetrating, with lively acidity and firm but balanced tannins. A long-term ageing wine which is already accessible.

96 Points James Halliday
A 68/32% blend from the 1975 Central, 1920 Eastern and 1989 Western Vineyards. While the weight of the wine is still within the medium-bodied framework all four wines enjoy, the aromas and flavours are wonderfully juicy. For close on a century, the symbolic link between cabernet and malbec expresses itself in unique fashion in this God-given secluded corner of the Clare Valley. Drink to 2036.
