Ranked #3 of 47 2018 Shiraz from Heathcote

Huon Hooke
Very deep, dark, glass-staining red/purple colour. The bouquet is very oaky and savoury, with coconut and toasty-barrel, mocha and espresso coffee notes. A massive wine, loaded with tannins - but they’re ripe, supple tannins - while the flavour is concentrated and strongly oak-infused. Brandied prunes in the aftertaste. The sheer weight and power of the wine means it almost handles the huge alcohol strength. This wine demands more time, and will reward the patient. It has massive potential. (23 months in new French oak hogsheads and barriques)

Opaque with a purple hue. Super sexy and alluring nose full of crushed pepper and tarte red
berries combine with hints of cola and leafy undergrowth. The palate highlights old vine material. It is powerful and
extracted. A ‘wine gobstopper’ if you like. Bright juicy fruits, cinnamon, spice and all things nice characterise this wine. The
2018 Shiraz Reserve is magnificently viscous. A wave of flavour rolling down your palate, finishing with abundant but fine
black tea like tannins. A selection of the best fruit from the Original Vineyard (South) and Mt Pleasant Vineyard (North).
Finished in 100% new French oak for 24 months. 15% whole bunch used in the ferment add to the 2018’s vibrancy. 16.3%
Vol. 100% Shiraz. Enjoy over the next 12 - 20 years. Bottled in half bottle, 750mL and magnum.
