Chalk Hill Wits End Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

A great wine to drink and discuss around the table!

I brought this bottle of wine with me to a dinner party and although there was a lot of great wine there for the night, this really stood out. It was quite spicey on the nose and had a thick smell of berries. Once in the mouth, it packed a real earthy punch but had a great long lasting, smooth finish that just made you sit there and think, great for flavour discussion. Definately decant this one if you can, and watch out for the sediment, but highly reccomend. We bought another case to split between three of us

Dark and dusty Mclaren Vale Cabernet

Reviewed by Figjam - Friday 27 May 2011 08:48 PM

Chalky mouth staining tannins. Lots of dark, ripe fruit and a mild spicy edge. At 14.5% it's warm but not hot. Overall not bad for its modest price tag and considering its 11 years of bottle age.
