Having never tasted a Mudgee shiraz anywhere close to this age I was very curious and have to say very pleasantly surprised. The wine is in great shape. Transparent at the rim and with a youthful nose that offers flowers, horse saddle, wet earth and currants. The palate is medium bodied and reminiscent of northern Rhone with nice freshness and acidity that lends itself to a wide variety of foods. A spread of cured meats comes to mind. Great stuff. Woof!
