Taittinger
Founded in 1734 the noble Taittinger Champage House is based in Reims. The flagship wines of the house are the
Comtes de Champagne (composed of 100% Chardonnay) and
Comtes de Champagne Rose (100% Pinot Noir).
Taittingers owns some the finest Chardonnay vineyards in the Champagne district, where it has approximately 288 hectares of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier under vine. It blends a relatively high percentage of Chardonnay (40%) into its Cuvee. The Taittinger Brut Reserve is a mix of crus from forty ancient vineyards in the Champagne district, and matured for 3 or 4 years in the famous Tattinger cellars, located in Reims on the site of Gallo-Roman chalk mines dug during the 4th century, and enlarged in the 13th century by the Saint Nicaise Abbey monks to provide storage for the Champagne wines which they traded in.
